Switching to Fostering Solutions

Why switch to Fostering Solutions?

We’re one of Britain’s leading independent fostering agencies. With over 15 years experience of building relationships, we are now a preferred and trusted provider with strong links to numerous local authorities, so we can offer you more placements than many other agencies. This, in turn, makes our matching more successful, leading to more long-term placements. It also reduces the time that our foster carers are without a child to care for.

How long will the transfer process take?

It usually takes around 4 months, but we aim to make the switching process as quick and as smooth as possible.

What will happen to my existing foster children?

The relationship with children already in your care will be taken into consideration when switching. The first step is a Protocol Meeting between your old agency, Fostering Solutions and the local authority. Between us all, we’ll look out for the best interests of the children and young people in your care. The decision as to whether your foster children can join you or be re-homed will depend on age, needs and situation.

Are there guidelines for transferring from one service to another?

Yes. The most recent were updated in 2015, good practice and guiding principles for approved foster carers wishing to transfer.
