2. What did your role involve?
- Skills to Foster and other types of training.
- Performing screening visits and reports
- Form F Assessments and paperwork
- Supervision of foster carers
- Attending the foster carer panel and annual reviews at panel
- Spending time with the North West placement team taking referrals
- Working alongside the Diversity working party
- Devising a questionnaire for children who foster support group
- Spending time with other Supervising Social Workers to see how they work.
- Attending LAC reviews and PEP meetings
3. What was the higlight of your placement?
The highlight of my time at Fostering Solutions really was the whole placement from start to finish! I was involved in seeing the process of fostering through from beginning to end. I had the opportunity to be involved in assessments and working with other professionals. All the staff were lovely, supportive and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for anyone involved in Fostering Solutions.
4. How has your placement helped you?
The placement helped me massively. I have gained more confidence, have become more assertive and organised, my time management skills are now excellent. Most importantly, this placement made me realise why I came into social work in the first place.
5. How would you sum up Fostering Solutions?
My view of Fostering Solutions is that it is an excellent, supportive organisation to foster carers, foster children and staff. It was a pleasure to end my studies with this organisation and I will always be grateful for the learning opportunities I received.
