2. Which region do you work in?
The Lancashire team within the North West region
3. What does your role involve?
I supervise 12-14 Foster Carers and I'm also involved in the Assessment and Approval of new Foster Carers. The key part of my role is to ensure that children's needs are met by their carers. This is achieved by highlighting the various issues that carers find they have to deal with in relation to each child. As a SSW, I liaise with the children's social workers and other professionals involved in their lives, as well as natural parents and siblings.
I work as part of the Lancashire team, however I also have the ability to work alone and maintain regular contact with carers and representatives from Social Services. The job is very varied and I am able to particpate in training for carers and organising and attending support groups. My role involves travelling around, meeting people- both children and adults- and evidencing what you do.

I've only been here a few months but I'm looking forward to lots of opportunities and the chance to develop.
