Becoming a foster carer in Wales

My name is Kath Shickell and I am the Operations Manager for Fostering Solutions in Wales. I have worked for Fostering Solutions for the past 5 ½ years and have been in my current role for nearly 3. Prior to this I worked in a local authority's Family Placement Team and have also worked in various residential units with teenagers, and additionally I have also fostered.

Fostering Solutions has two offices in Wales - one in Wrexham which has been in existence for six years and covers the North and one in Cardiff which has been open for nearly two years and covers South Wales. Each of the offices has experienced social workers and also an administrator. All of the team are committed to providing a high level of support to our foster carers and also to the children in their care. Fostering Solutions provides a wide range of training in order to assist in the development of its foster carers and additionally will look at accessing any specific training requirements as appropriate.
