"There is always someone on the other end of the phone"- Kevin and Karen
Kevin and Karen have been foster carers for Fostering Solutions for 18 months. Kevin works full time, whilst Karen left her career as a nurse in order to commit to fostering as the main carer.
With their own children grown up, many of Kevin and Karen's friends thought they were crazy to start fostering when they had time to themselves, but their attitudes soon changed once they had met the 3 year old boy placed with Kevin and Karen.
Karen is the first to admit that fostering is not always easy, but the good times far outweigh thebad. They have been able to take full advantage of the support of their Fostering Solutions supervising social worker and their family. "There is always someone on the other end of the phone to talk to and we have the added support from our daughters, we always have trusted babysitters if needed!"
Kevin and Karen came into fostering so that they could share their positive experience of family life with children who have had difficulties living within their own families. When asked what they have gained from fostering, the whole family agreed, "it has made us more patient and tolerant with one another and more appreciative of what we do for each other."
