"The year has flown by and we seem to have packed so much in"- Julie and Martin.
December
This year has flown by and we seem to have packed so much in. Leah and Matt arrived on Monday 12th December, by the Friday of that week we were all sat in Pizza Express with all our family for our evening meal in preparation for our sons wedding the following day! What a wonderful day that was. Leah looked amazing in her white Monsoon dress laced with diamonds and Matt in his 3 piece suit with wing collar shirt and bow tie! They both behaved impeccably for the whole weekend stay.
That was the start of their life with us. Our Christmas and New Year were wonderful, spending time with Leah and Matt in the park on their new bikes. We wondered if they would manage but like everything they seem to do, they sorted out how to manage them and there they were, riding off into the distance!
February
In February half term we went on our first holiday together to Gran Canaria and by the time we left they were swimming like fish- I don't think they had noticed though because to them they were just "snorkelling"!
March
After half term, Leah started her sacramental programme and her confirmation was marked by a small family buffet at home. Matt had joined a football club and has now completed several blocks of football training.
June
In the summer we spent two weeks in the south of France. Leah and Matt loved France, they trod the red carpet in Cannes, enjoyed the shops and eating out in Nice and didn't even get bored looking around the palace in Monaco! I think they mostly enjoyed the simple things like fishing, barbeques and midnight swimming.
September
As the summer ended and a new school term began Matt settled into a new class and found it a bit difficult as his best friend went into a different class. Matt has continued to whip through his reading book though and is not fazed by spellings, knocking out a 99% average. Leah has been plodding on, but after attending a lunch time fun reading group, the penny has dropped and Leah is getting more and more confident in her reading, the same with her times tables.
November
Leah has enjoyed a World War 2 project where a VE celebration took place and she dressed up as an evacuee for the day. Matt got ready to be a king in his school Christmas production. He has been so proud as his name has appeared no less than 3 times in the Golden Book at school this year!
Both Leah and Matt have settled well and have a hectic social life. Leah has ballet, French Club, brownies and computer club and Matt has Spanish club, his church club and football training. There have been times of conflict, but never have we once regretted any moment, mostly because all is forgiven and forgotten (as Matt would say!) and laughter fills our house again.
