David Kidney MP, Chair of the APG invites young people with care experience aged 18 and over to apply to work alongside him in Parliament on an internship.
Immerse yourself in the world of politics, walk the corridors of The House of Commons and get involved in these interesting activities:
- Shadowing David Kidney MP, Chair of the APG group.
- In association with the APG officers and the Secretariat, helping to plan the APG meetings for the Parliamentary session during 2009.
- Attending the APG meetings and welcome attendees.
- Where appropriate and possible, helping groups of young people in care attending the meetings to meet with their own MP when they visit Parliament.
- Contributing to the APG newsletter under the guidance of the editor.
- Preparing letters and other documents, under supervision.
The successful applicant must:
- Be interested in politics and parliamentary work.
- Be flexible and interested in supporting and helping other young people.
- Be willing to develop their writing skills and their ability to comment on Government policies and initiatives which impact on children and young people in and leaving care.
- Be free to work one day per week from mid January 2009 to mid July 2009 when Parliament is in session.
