Enjoy and Achieve
Real life case study – Cumbria (NAMES CHANGED)
We talk about what I want in the future and what education I need to get a good job
Daniel is a 17 year old severely disabled young man placed with Fostering Solutions carers. He has no speech, is profoundly deaf, partially sighted and uses a wheelchair. Daniel is also epileptic and has other health needs. Daniel is a full member of the class and is included in all activities at the special school he attends.
Before becoming looked after child, Daniel was neglected and did not attend school. He now loves school and has achieved so much. He played the role of Wayne Rooney in the Christmas play and thoroughly enjoyed going on an outdoor activity holiday, where he participated in activities such as wheelchair abseiling. At school, Daniel enjoys painting and music and at the end of the school year, returned home with a booklet full of certificates and photographs detailing all his achievements over the year. Anthony is happy, contented and clearly benefiting from being in a nurturing foster home from where he is able to attend school that meets his educational needs in a creative way.

Achievement in the Midlands:
One 16 year old girl living with Fostering Solutions carers in the Midlands had not attended school for a number of months prior to placement. Overwhelming progress has been made and she is now preparing to start 6th Form.
Another child had been excluded because of the disruption she had caused at school, a placement was made with Fostering Solutions carers in the Midlands and this year, the same girl was proud to be presented with the “Student of the Year” Award by the local authority.
